James is an emerging artist, with a background in Architecture. After gaining a BA (Hons) Degree in this subject at the University of Northumbria, he worked in practice for two years, before making the transition to a career in art.

The influence of his background has endured, however, as he remains particularly interested in the built environment and enjoys depicting town and cityscapes. He works exclusively in watercolour, as he feels that it is ideal for capturing the atmospheric effects of our surroundings.

His work is characterised by strong colour, bold forms, and a desire to record the effects of light on a subject.

His limited edition prints and original works are represented in various private collections in the UK, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, China and the Republic of Ireland, and can also be found on display in the following galleries:
